Welcome

We need your help in finding a robbery suspect.

On Friday, July 23, 2010 at 1:35 p.m. officers responded to a radio call to 15761 West Dodge Road, Omaha State Bank, to investigate a bank robbery. Employees told officers that the suspect entered the business, indicated he had a firearm (but did not show one), and demanded money. After receipt of an undetermined amount of money, the suspect fled from the scene in a white newer model Chevy Impala.

Suspect:
White male, wearing a white long sleeve shirt, yellow hat, blue jeans and sunglasses. He is 6' tall with an average build. He has tattoos on his right arm.

The Homicide Unit is attempting to gain information related to an unknown year green jeep (possible Grand Cherokee) that was in the area of a shooting which took place outside of the Guaca Maya Mexican Restaurant on Monday, 21 Jun 2010, at 0101 hours. The green jeep was occupied by two Hispanic males, one possibly wearing a cowboy hat. The occupants of this vehicle are being sought as possible witnesses to the shooting incident.

The below photo may not be the exact vehicle in question, and should be used as a reference only.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 444-5656, or contact Crime Stoppers at 444-STOP (7867), by texting “OPD” and your tip to CRIMES (274637), or on-line at

The Omaha Police Department is co-sponsoring a gun amnesty program as a collaborative community effort to rid the streets of illegal and/or unwanted guns.  Numerous community groups have stepped forward to provide leadership and help coordinate this event.

Unwanted/illegal guns can be dropped off at designated sites with no questions asked. Drive-up service will also be available.  No compensation will be given for guns dropped off except the peace of mind that one less gun will be available to those who chose to use it to harm another or commit a crime.

Omaha’s amnesty program is unique due to the fact that it is a community effort being led by various members of the community.  The goal of the program is to remove illegal/unwanted guns thereby reducing the potential of gun-related crimes.  In addition, the program will provide information on gun safety, Crime Stoppers, and other community programs.  A few of the community partners include:

  • Omaha Police Department
  • Douglas County Attorney’s Office
  • Omaha City Prosecutor’s Office
  • Omaha Housing Authority
  • Emerging Leaders
  • Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
  • Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity
  • Koinonia House of Worship
  • Bethel Baptist Church
  • A Call to Action
  • Family First
  • Project Safe Neighborhoods

The next gun amnesty day will be held on July 10th at the 30th and Spencer Street parking lot from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. For more information about the program visit www.familyfirst-omaha.com

Crime Stoppers encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by overcoming the two key elements that inhibit community involvement: fear and apathy.

Crime Stoppers provides a telephone number, web tips and text messaging to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer vital information helpful to law enforcement agencies to fight against crime.

Callers will remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender.

Crime Stoppers relies on volunteer Directors and tax deductible contributions from the public in order to operate the administration of the program.
